BIDBI’s wins Pete Mckee Bear at Bears of Sheffield auction with the highest bid of £30,000

Who are the Bears of Sheffield?  

The Bears of Sheffield was a public art exhibition, which includes 100 little bears and 60 big bears that were situated around the city, by The Sheffield Children’s Hospital. The bears were designed by local and international artists. The Bears of Sheffield will fund a new Leukemia Ward at Sheffield Children’s Hospital through donations, merchandise, sponsorship challenges, fundraising throughout the trail, and an auction at the end of the campaign. 

We also collaborated with The Children's Hospital Charity to print the official tote bags for the Bears of Sheffield event. 
 

BIDBI and Bears of Sheffield  

BIDBI attended the Bears of Sheffield end of trail auction and won the ‘Thank you Sheffield Children's Hospital’ Bear, designed by Pete Mckee, with the highest bid of the night at £30,000. It was a fantastic event with a bear-illiant outcome for all involved. All the bears together, have raised £525,000 for the Children's Hospital.  

The work Sheffield Children’s Hospital does is close to the hearts of many employees here at BIDBI. Being able to support the charity in building a new leukemia ward and contributing to the fundraising target was an honour. This will be life-changing to so many families in Sheffield and the surrounding areas. 

Supporting the community has always been at the heart of everything we do, and we are delighted to support The Sheffield Children’s Hospital in this way to show our gratitude for everything they do. 

Our new Bear  

We are very excited to welcome this new colourful addition to our team. Standing at over 2m, Pete Mckee’s bear cuts an imposing figure, and gives a message of love and gratitude. It’s a message from every parent that has needed to use the services of The Children’s Hospital for their child.

I am absolutely overwhelmed by the incredible response the Bears of Sheffield received this year and have been blown away by people's generosity. This has contributed towards being able to fully fund the Cancer and Leukaemia Ward at Sheffield's Children's Hospital. I'm really chuffed that my bear has found a good home with you and still have to pinch myself sometimes when I think that it sold for the highest bid at auction; a whopping £30,000!
